School Board Introduction

Board members are elected to three-year terms. The annual election is held on the second Tuesday in September, and new members begin their term in October. The board then elects a president and vice president from among its members. Appointment of the secretary and treasurer takes place during the August board meeting.
Board members serve on a variety of district committees and represent the district on local and state issues.
The Farragut Board of Education is responsible for determining policies, setting the budget and maintaining standards of excellence in education on behalf of the community. Farragut school board members are committed to lifelong learning, and in their commitment, they are participants in training and board development opportunities through the Iowa Association of School Boards.
