Brown's Shoe Fit Co.

On January 18th, Tori H. and Meagan K. participated in a job shadow opportunity with Brown's Shoe Fit Co. in Shenandoah. We had the opportunity to observe Mrs. Judy Shepherd as she designed a layout for an upcoming advertisement. Mrs. Shepherd gave us a tour of her office and provided us detailed information about Brown’s Shoe Fit Co.
Brown’s represents 80 stores and 5 independent stores around the U.S. Mrs. Shepherd provided us with a folder with more information about the store. Coincidentally she had designed the folder which is copied above. Mrs. Shepherd told us about her Macintosh computer and all the necessary software and hard-drive it takes to save all the work they do.
Previously Mrs. B., our art teacher, asked us to submit pictures, via email, that we had taken for our graphics design class. She showed us our pictures on her computer and then informed us later she would allow us to print off our pictures on Brown’s plotter.
We experienced how one computer thinks and talks to another computer and how it has to load the advertisement to the next computer. Tori and Meagan spent time cutting out posters that were going to be shipped to Oklahoma.
Before we could print our designs we found out how to maintain and clean the plotter. At the end of the day, Mrs. Shepherd printed off our graphic designs on 50’’X 80’’ sheets of paper. It was a great experience to see our art work on such a large scale.
Over all we had a really good time. Tori H. and Meagan K. would like to thank Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. and Mrs. Shepherd for their time and this wonderful opportunity.
