Information on College Career Academies

by Mr. Lutt

July 01, 2007

College Career Academies are a partnership among Iowa Western Community College, Loess Hills Area Education Agency 13, Farragut CSD, and local business and industry.

College Career Academies are designed to ensure that the region’s students are “college ready and career ready” and prepared for the demands and dynamics of the global, high tech work economy and the next job market.  They support regional economic development efforts.

College Career Academies, when fully developed, will include:

  • Six-year focused student educational planning
  • Job shadows and internships
  • Curriculum alignment for grades 9-14
  • Opportunities to earn college credit while in high school
  • Student organizations
  • Academic and career and technical high school courses in each of the 16 Career Clusters.

Please contact Sandy Hilding at 385-8131 for more information.
