Winter 2007
Department of Education Site Review Report suggests bullying is an issue in the district.
Spring 2007
- Administration searches for anti-bullying program.
- State of Iowa passes new “anti-bullying” law.
- Meetings with AEA on Olweus Bullying Prevention program.
- Olweus Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee appointed.
Summer 2007
Olweus Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee attends two day training by AEA13 personnel. (July 30 & 31)
August 17th
- The Coordinating Committee trains school staff in introductory 2-hour professional development.
- Students review handbook containing references to the new state law on bullying.
- Website tab “Olweus” launched.
October
- Administer Bully/Victim Questionnaire
- Coordinating Committee tabulates results and plans next steps
January 2008
- Student and parent “kick-off” to introduce the program to student body and parents.
- Launch other elements of the program:
- Post school rules against bullying
