We had a
wonderful time putting this event together and have already begun
preparations for next year. Isn't it great when a community
comes together and just has fun. We have had positive
feedback on all fronts. People really seemed to enjoy and
appreciate the effort that went into the planning of the one
day event and have offered some great input as to how to make
things even better for next year.
We had a
few fundraiser mixed in with the days events which consisted of a
car wash, popcorn sales, a food stand in the park, food stand at
the ball field, and a car seat safety program at the
school.
Code red
set up a stand at city hall to sign up people for the emergency
notices for the weather.
The event
was kicked off with a parade featuring the Admiral Marching Band
and as always the kids we're terrific. We had a really nice
parade thanks to the combined efforts of Becky Dunkle and Melody
Mattes, and of course Cindy McCall and the Admiral Marching Band,
thanks for a job well done.
Emmy and
Maryanne did a splendid job organizing the pie competition and
auction in just a short 2 weeks time. A lovely added addition
to our event.
Hats off
to Michele Fichter for organizing our most popular event the
Hillbilly Poker Run. It was a big success and we
are
making
plans to make that event run longer next year.
Also,
another popular event was the bathtub races and golf cart
rodeo. These events were put together with a combined effort of the
Anchor Community Club with Becky Dunkle, Chris Blank and Melody
Mattes taking charge.
The
softball tournament needs a lot of work for next year.
This was an area we learned a lot about this year so we
can work out the kinks for next time around. We had 6
teams and fun was had by all. Tournament winners were 1st
Place National Guard, 2nd Eaton's, 3rd The kids Class 2010
plus friends
The 1st
annual Draft Horse Pull was a huge success and we are thrilled to
have been able to have them this year. Al Drevor was
responsible for putting this together for us. 1st place

Philips
Leisure
Hall was occupied by many things this year. Bingo, a Silent
auction, pie competition, and cake walk were held there with
Max and Margaret Gray in charge of Bingo- they had a lot
of takers. Becky Sickman put together many sought after
items for the silent auction. Emmy and Maryanne worked hard
putting together the pie contest for us. Leslie Brooks was in
charge of the cake walk with the help of Phil and Kay
Wing.
At the
Admiral Inn, as always you could find sweets galore. The
ice cream social was the main attraction on main street after the
fireman's feed ,at the Fire station. The Congregational
and Methodist Church's here in town did a great
job.
The
Optimists, and the National Guard took care of the games and
entertainment in the park and the kids really had a great
time.
There was
an old time band playing music in the park to entertain while
people checked out the flea market items and just sat and
visited. Glenn Brink, with the help of Curtis
Brooks, put together a nice little antique tractor show that people
always seem to meander by and enjoy talking about the old
days
Thanks to
the Nebel's for the kiddie tractor pulls in the park- It seems the
park was a very busy place in the afternoon.
To end the
day The Farragut Tavern hosted a street dance for the revelers to
wind down with music provided by DJ Mark Wulff of Wulff
Entertainment.
We would
like to help anyone not listed here as helpers and a big thank you
to our monitory supporters, it couldn't have happened without
you.
