Winter 2007

Department of Education Site Review Report suggests bullying is an issue in the district.

Spring 2007

Administration searches for anti-bullying program.
State of Iowa passes new “anti-bullying” law.
Meetings with AEA on Olweus Bullying Prevention program.
Olweus Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee appointed.

Summer 2007

Olweus Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee attends two day training by AEA13 personnel. (July 30 & 31)

August 17th

The Coordinating Committee trains school staff in introductory 2-hour professional development.
Students review handbook containing references to the new state law on bullying.
Website tab “Olweus” launched.

October

Administer Bully/Victim Questionnaire
Coordinating Committee tabulates results and plans next steps

January 2008

Student and parent “kick-off” to introduce the program to student body and parents.
Launch other elements of the program:
- Post school rules against bullying
